An Inheritance of Love and Support
This picture was taken years ago by a professional family photographer. We gave it as a gift to our mom who had been wanting a big picture of all her kids that she could hang on her wall. My brother has it now after the passing of both our parents. We girls have a smaller version. I like looking at it because in my head, I still look like that instead of a woman 35 years older.
We just recently finished the last phase of their trust, distributing all their possessions and hard-earned money between our four families. We went through the three (yes three) storage units we filled when they moved into an assisted living facility. Mom wasn’t quite ready to let go of her treasures and the memories that went with them. She found comfort in knowing where they were and my Dad graciously went along with her decision to keep it all safe.
When my sisters came from out of state to help us go through the storage units, there was a spirit of cooperation and a desire to distribute items according to our own memory that went with it. I am so grateful that not once did anyone count the various piles to see if they were even.
Like all families, we’ve had our struggles, but when it mattered most, these wonderful humans that I am lucky enough to have as my siblings, cared more about filling their lamps with oil than their houses and bank accounts with things of this world.
And I will be forever grateful for each of them for the inheritance of love and support.

I can barely comment because the love and thankfulness I feel in my heart is leaking out my eyes.
Thank you for this, sister.
