The Blessed Gift of a Thousand Points of Light
There is so much I enjoy and cherish about the Christmas season, but what I love the most is the feeling that more hearts are turned toward Jesus, the Son of God. There is literally a willingness to try and love better, be more Christ-like, more observance of the first and second great commandments.
I felt it in our little neighborhood store the other day. The music playing overhead was proclaiming Him to be Lord of Lords and King of Kings. People were smiling more and offering help to retrieve items from top shelves, patiently waiting while someone was getting what they also wanted and letting those with fewer items go before them in the checkout line.
Small but kind gestures of love and service.
Each one a point of Light in a darkened world.
For a few weeks in December, we get a tiny glimpse of what it will feel like when He comes again and life here on earth will be vastly different than what it is today. A hint of the power of what it will be like to live in a world where we love our neighbor as ourselves.
Christmas is all about Hope.
Hope in Christ.
Hope in His inexhaustible love and intimate knowledge of our lives and His ever constant willingness to help us overcome our trials and troubles and to know that we are truly never alone.
Hope in the promise that He is always there.
Hope that even in the midst of an ever-darkening world, there is no power that the enemy has that can ever dim the Light of Christ.
No power that can take His light from us if we choose to let Him in.
I am immensely grateful for those points of Light that live around me and for those I interact with on a regular basis. They do not go unnoticed. How could they, when they shine so brightly! Their shining adds hope and help to my world.
May we all let our Lights so Shine, not only this Christmas season, but throughout the entire year.
Merry Christmas Everyone!

There’s much truth in this post Mary….I see it too. People a little kinder, a little less wrapped up in themselves and more kind toward their fellow beings. Oh how I pray it would last more than a few weeks.
May we be the lights , not just in this season but throughout the year.
Beautiful post. Thanks for your insightfulness and for sharing.
