The Precious Gift of Receiving
I love this time of year when so many hearts are turned to God. I enjoy the music, the conversation, and the stories about all the good that we can do.
All the Light that we can share.
I especially love the focus on our Savior and Friend, Jesus Christ.
Like you, I’ve tried to be thoughtful in the gifts I will give to my family and friends. Something special and unique just for them.
I have a favorite place in my home where I can read and ponder: a very cozy green loveseat that my nephew gave me. I can look out at the lake in my backyard and watch the geese fly in. I do my best thinking there.
And I’ve been thinking a lot about gifts.
Not what I’m giving and not what I might be getting, but what I have already received.
The myriad gifts from God that have enriched and focused my life towards an eternal perspective. The gifts that I didn’t recognize were gifts when they came.
The gifts that have helped me understand life better.
The gifts that have taught me that the Lord is always with us, even and especially in the midst of the troubling storms.
The gift of knowing that the Lord has a plan for me and its a good one.
A plan that will lead me exactly where I want to end up, back with my Heavenly Father and Jesus.
All that I have been given is to teach me the things I need to know and do and become… that will enable me to walk the path back Home.
Jesus is the giver of every good gift.
This year, my gift to Him is to be a good receiver.
