The Priceless Value of Light
I have been drawn lately to notice light. I see it in people, in nature, and feel it with words both spoken and printed on a page. I watch as it breaks through the darkness when I walk in the early mornings with trusted and dear friends. It illuminates our path, gives us greater protection, and warms us in the chill of the morning. I vividly recall times when light shined brightly and changed perspective and brought peace.
I love the message from Vern P. Stanfill when he said, “There is no darkness so dense, so menacing, or so difficult that it cannot be overcome by light.”
No matter how dark it is, light always wins.
We are living in a difficult time, during the last days of this fallen world. Paul warns us that “…we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
But light always wins!
There are so many voices clamoring for our attention today hoping to sway our opinion and commitments. There are divisions and differences that threaten our ability to see light. But the promise of the Lord is real and true when He proclaimed, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
Neil L. Andersen bears testimony of this Light of Christ when he said, “As evil increases in the world, there is a compensatory spiritual power for the righteous. As the world slides from its spiritual moorings, the Lord prepares the way for those who seek Him, offering them greater assurance, greater confirmation, and greater confidence in the spiritual direction they are traveling. The gift of the Holy Ghost becomes a brighter light in the emerging twilight.”
Light always wins!
There are times when the darkness threatens to overwhelm us. Times when the myriad voices of the world are loud and demanding and confusing. Times when the enemy of all righteousness uses these voices against us to belittle and destroy. During these times of trial and testing, it is important that we:
Don’t forget in the dark what we learned in the Light.
And to remember that Light Always Wins!
